Morning everyone,
Hester - my heart goes out to you, please take care of yourself in all this.
Tru - hope your knee is better today.
Elona - :hello: hi, loving to hear from you.
Well, it was dry and frosty when first woke up but in the last hour the sleet and snow has started and apparently we are having it all day, that will put pay to my plans to take Bill out with his horsey friends this afternoon.
Need to get some washing done but it will have to go on the airers, shouldn't be too bad if we have the heating on today. Then later we are going to pick Mum up so she stay over tonight, had a chat last night and she has had a good week with two WI meetings, visit to the hairdressers etc so was on good form. It's coming up to three years since we lost my darling Dad and whilst I know she still has bad moments she has managed to make a life for herself, she's an amazing Mum and Grandma to us all.
Tonight, we are going to have a Chinese takeaway for a treat as it's something she likes but would never have by herself.
Have a good day everyone, take care of yourselves xx0 -
Morning all,
Beautiful day here atm but very cold there may be a chance of snow later on, I have the wm on the go with the first of many loads and will try and hang it out for a while.
Evie slept well again she went up with dd and we did not hear a peep till OH got up this morning, she is snuggled up next to me atm but is very interested in a moth that's flying around ! (she is now chasing it :rotfl:)
Need to have a good clean through this morning, then take Evie for a walk. OH took her up the park last night where she met a Border terrier and had a good run around with her for 1/2 hour, she came home shattered !
We also need to go to Mr W and get some more of the puppy food and pick up something for my mum.
Tonight the family are coming round for a takeaway and drinkies which will be nice.
Judi my heart goes out to you, your circumstances are identical to when we lost dad and I know how terribly hard it is, big hugs xxx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Elona, lovely to see you posting. I know what you mean about cardboard boxes, when we came down from Scotland the storage in the house was almost nil, I had to get a dresser in the dining room for the plates etc. The move here was virtually stressless, DD 2 did most of the unpacking for us.
Hester I am so sorry to hear you have family problems, you have enough on your plate with your work issues without anything else.
Judi, I hope that your mums end is peaceful, it is so difficult to watch a loved one pass away. Remember the good times and take care of yourself.
It's a dull morning. Oh says it is raining, I would not know, still in bed. We had hoped for a walk round the village today, will see what it's like after OH has had his siesta.
Quiet day I hope, no visitors expected. Brings home once again that DS 2 is no longer with us. He always brought the children over before Mother's Day.
We are going to DD2's for lunch tomorrow.0 -
Morning everyone, but gloomy down here in Kent. Fancy making Chelsea buns today, so just having a coffee and looking through baking cook books.
Sorry to hear some of you are having very difficult times, my thoughts are with you.Carolbee0 -
Elona hopefully your internet will soon be hooked up - I love being in a bungalow (I was lucky, Mr LW already had one when I moved in with him).
Mr LW is ploughing his way through pension information. Some of it is just so confusing! I've downloaded Martin's excellent booklet on the subject for him - it's the first thing we've had that's actually written in plain English!
He already gets a pension from a firm he worked for some years ago; but there are two separate pensions from the place he's retiring from on Friday, because they changed ownership, and for whatever reason the pension from the first lot was frozen, and the 2nd lot started fresh. I think. :wall::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall:
It's a bit of a mess, but I've told him to take his time and make sure to get it sorted to his best advantage, and in the meantime, I'm pretty sure I can keep us fed and housed on the one he's already claiming plus the one I get from the Civil Service, at least for the time being.;)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Just popping to send good wishes to Hester and Judi.
Elona good to read that you're in your new home, I've been here 10 years in September and still have 2 never -unpacked boxes!
LW make sure Mr LW earns his keep until his pensions are sorted
Csarina I also struggle - both of us have lost our mums now and my boys both live away from us so won't be seeing them, and no cards arrived today2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Evening all,
Thanks for your good wishes regarding my Mom. I haven't been to see her today but did ring and there is no change. In the past myself (and the staff of course) have pulled her through by constantly offering drinks and spoon feeding her but if she isn't taking the drinks offered there is little anyone can do. I know we are doing her no favours by keeping her alive by constantly giving her drinks that she no longer wants but where do you draw the line? I picked her a card today and put some flowers in my basket but changed my mind and put the flowers back. There is already some flowers in her very cluttered room and she can't see them anyway. I consoled myself by thinking of the money I've spent on her over the months which must run into hundreds for things she's needed or I've bought to make her remaining time pleasant and I thought I could justify it to myself if I get criticised for not buying her anything. Incidentally one of the carers came in yesterday to change her clothing and brushed her hair. "I don't know who has been cutting her hair" she said "but it falls lovely". At that I produced a pair of scissors out of my bag. As I walked home I caught sight a reflection of myself in a shop window. I always thought I looked like my Dad but in the reflection I could see I have Mom's fine hair and it falls just like hers does.
Anyway, I'm waffling...Had a lovely day. Out for breakfast. Went to see the Outlaws. Shopping, then finally my eldest Son came to see me with his 2 boys. I haven't seen them for ages. They are a lot less boisterous than they were last time I saw them..Much to Hubby's relief.

Had a lovely meal with DGS Danny and his g/f Hayley at Buddabelly's in Maidstone I don't think I am going to eat for a week. Only thing I could manage just now was an orange Hey ho back to normal tomorrow:):)Gorgeous food from all over the world and you just help yourself to what you fancy for a fixed price They had Chinese,Indian,Thai,Mexican Italian Plus about 6-7 different puddings I think its around £9.00 but you can eat as much or as little as you fancy so Danny and I tried a bit of everything in small portions over a period of about two and a half hours Thoroughly enjoyed it and he was telling me all about his exploits in Tallinn, Estonia where he often has to go for his work making advertising short videos .He loves the country and is trying to learn the language .
Just off to have a read of my library book and an early night as there is little that I fancy on TV
Cheers chums JackieO xx0
