This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone.
Another cold day ahead though the forecast is for some sun later. I'm still in bed though.
Yesterday I had a very full and interesting day, I met some really lovely people and enjoyed their company. And I was given a high-vis armband to wear when leading walks...not sure that's going to happen.
Today I'll be scavenging in the fridge for left overs, got plenty of vegetables so just need to sort out the protein part. I didn't start on either of the quick reads last night so that's on the plan for today. I also want to get back out for a walk, it makes me feel so much more energised.
JUDI - thinking of you still. Keep strong.
ELONA - good to see you back posting again. Here's hoping your own broadband is soon installed.
Right, some more snuggling down to do before tackling a little light housework.
Happy Saturday everyone.0 -

My leg seized up while I was walking round town, I hobbled back to the bus stop then stood up all the way home, I was sure I wouldn't be able to stand up again if I sat downThorntons aren't selling diabetic chocs anymore, apparantly the sweetener they used has been banned? I bought mum some nice flowers but she does love her Thorntons. I bought six pairs of leggings, they'll keep me going for a while. M&S ones last for ages and don't go baggy at the knees. Picked up some doggy supplies from Poundland, then bought a couple of bunches of daffodils from the market, for myself

My leg has eased a bit, I'll take it easy today. We'll go down to the small quiet park and I'll fling a ball around – Scampi gets his exercise while out and about and I won't have to move much
The lounge is looking a bit cluttered. I've sat in three different places and looked at the view, lol. Some stuff needs to be moved or put in drawers/a cupboard but I don't know where to start. Will have another look at it today and hopefully come up with some sort of plan

Morning all
Cold a slushy underfoot here, DGD had a bad night and woke up 3 times, she also wet herself at school yesterday, this, along with a few other things have brought me and hubby to a decision, horrible though it may be.
Anyway, I went to the coop yesterday and got 2 of their £5 deals for DD1, DD2 had already got hers. The deal is chicken pie, potato croquettes, carrot and swede mash, apple pie & ice cream, not bad for £5.
Hubby is working this morning, DD1 is dropping her dogs off for me to look after until tomorrow, DD2's hubby is dropping 18month old DGD for me to look after whilst he goes to football with DGS, both DGD's will be collected at 4ish, then I'll walk the dogs.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all. Thanks GERS for starting us off.
A much better start than yesterday! Today we have blue sky and the promise of sun. There's still quite a bit of lying snow yet to thaw, though roads and pavements are clear.
I left Lentil & Bacon soup in the sc overnight and it smells delicious. Some of that will be lunch with a crusty roll. There's still loads of the cooking bacon left so will probably chop it all up, fry and freeze to add to omelettes, pasta and pizza when needed.
It's my horrendously big birthday next Saturday and I did intend to "celebrate" quietly with a nice meal out with Mr TA. But DD has been on my back for weeks to have a big "do". No way says I, but she wouldn't let it lie! So we have compromised and it's now a family meal with DD & BF & the 3 DGDs, DS & partner & her two boys. Table for 11 was booked last night!
ELONA nice to have you back, albeit only temporary. JUDI thinking of you. Have a nice day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed and take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All
Elona, great to hear from you. Things will fall into place in time.
HH - Big hugs to you. You are the kindest, most practical, caring person - your family are so lucky.
Thinking of you Judi.
Looks like another lovely day, my bedding is in the WM and will go out when it's done. Going over to DDs later to start painting her hall - if she decides what colour paint she wants! I'll take her other bike too that she keeps here until she gets a new one sorted out.
Went out for something to eat with a friend last night, it was good to catch up. Was going swimming this morning but so far my mojo has left, I'll see how I feel in an hour.
Hope you all have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
We have the grandchildren staying so we were up with the larks this morning. I've just had some dippy eggs and toast kindly made by my hubby and now I am having a paper salad and ice cream drawn by my grand daughter. At least there are no calories in it.
Our grand daughter is being collected at 9am to go to the children's cinema with her friends as a birthday treat and my grandson wants to stay with me. He has really set his heart on learning to knit but as he is only 4 I think it will be too hard for him, plus he's a leftie so that will be tricky as well.
The girls are all still in bed so I will unleash the grandchildren on them in a bit. I want the house tidied up this morning and there are lots of little jobs that need doing. They will get some extra pocket money if they can do them without moaning too much, I'm not that hard a taskmaster :rotfl:.
I had a long chat with Occupational Therapy yesterday with a view to having some adaptions made to our house to make it a bit easier for me. He wan't too hopeful of them being made and thought the Housing Association would more likely offer me a more appropriate property. I don't really want to move but I will keep an open mind and see how it plays out.
Sending hugs to you Judi on the situation with your mum.
Hester, my heart is breaking for your grandchildren and your daughter too. I was the mum in that situation many years ago and my eldest daughter spent some time in care as a result. I wish my family had been as supportive as you and your OH. It worked out all ok in the end for us and I hope and pray it works out ok for you and your family.
Elona, it was lovely to read your post, hope your broadband is sorted out quickly for you.
Well that is all from me for now, take care xx0 -
Morning, a bright day here - but yesterday started like this and by lunchtime, we had sleet. Still, i shall get some washing done in the spirit of optimism.
Have some work to do later, will not take too long, and I would like to have a scrub round then the weekend is mine. DH will shop and which sm depends on what vouchers offer the best deal.
I need toast. My staple food seems to be wholemeal toast with marmite, not the world's most interesting choice but I like it. I don't like cereal very much.
Lunch out yesterday was fish finger sandwich with chips. Nice enough but I have to admit that I have had a better fish finger sandwich in my own kitchen and it didn't cost £8 either. That's without the chips and a glass of ginger beer.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
Thanks Gers for starting us off.
Hugs to those that need/want one x
Happy Birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, very wet underfoot, loads of laying water, heavy rain yet again during the evening last night and well into the night, although it's not raining at the moment but forecast is for rain for most of the day.
Dinner last night was a not so healthy - egg, bacon, sausage, black pudding, hash browns/cooked potato, mushrooms, beans and toast/bread/bread and butter - clear plates all round and enjoyed by us all. Lunch today is going to be chicken and salad wraps, curly fries and tortilla chips with dips, dinner tonight will be prawns in black bean sauce, ribs, egg and veg fried rice and noodles and sides of prawn toast, dumplings and pancake rolls.
Was more productive yesterday than I was on Thursday and my mood didn't dip so much. I got back from shopping got that put away and went back into town, visited building society, bank, and then bought the mothers day cards and prezzies, so that's sorted just need to get them delivered hopefully today. I also got more washing/drying done, and then ironed everything dry enough to be ironed - there's still some but mostly stuff that doesn't need ironing - possibly some uniforms, which I'll sort today. I didn't get any cooking/baking done as I ran out of time, I didn't get my lunch until gone 2pm, as nail appointments were running late.
Today I'll be visiting town again, but then visiting the mums' so we can deliver the gifts and cards, lazy day today and tomorrow planned, whether it will turn out that way is another matter!
Keep safe and well x
