How to determine the annual usuage

I live in a flatshare and cannot locate all the previous bills in order to calculate the past 12 months gas and electricity usages. (Recommended method by Martin)
Is it possible to call up British Gas and Southern Western Electric to ask for the past 12 months usage in kilowatt?

Yes, if you call them up they will give you the readings for the past year. Both BG and Powergen did this for me when I asked.0
