MBNA Money Transfer Card

Hi used the MSE money transfer card eligibility checker tonight, and got a 100% chance, with a note stating I had been pre-approved for the card, with full headline offer length and transfer rate. THE MBNA eligibility checker confirmed this; but when I completed the full application I wasn't given an instant decision - rather I received a message saying they couldn't give me an instant decision and would be in contact with me in 7-10 days.

Can anyone who has had any experience with MBNA cards advise what their typical reasons for not giving instant decisions would be, and if this is likely to lead to a refusal of my application?

thanks in advance

Yes it's a new tie up with MBNA but it's been posted on here that the same has happened to another poster, a posted reply from MSE did give some caveats.

I think you will be fine, the key is to make sure everything you put in the checker you put in the application.

Let us know how you get on.

Ged - I was as surprised as you about the 100% and preapproval - I had no idea that was even a possibility with the eligibility checker.

John - you were right, nothing at all to worry about, I had an email by 8am this morning confirming the approval and telling me my credit limit - which was very generous taking my current available (but unused) credit availability on cards, and my salary into consideration.

    altogether a rather painless process.

Exactly the same thing happened to me today. Maybe a backlog of customers following the adverts for the offer?

I'm really confused yesterday I had the same when checking eligibility 100% pre approval then today after checking which card I needed in a general phone call with no name or details given MBNA today my pre approval isnt matching and gone down to 95% i dont understand how this has changed in a day! I daren't go for it now knowing I might not get the highlighted offer.

Might be worth using MBNA's 'soft search' tool on their website in addition to the one available here on MSE and see what it comes up with?
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

I got my friend to try as well who did not really want the card but it came up pre approved and went through to their website and confirmed every thing was matching but he did not select the submit button. However tried again a little while later and the comparison site showed now is had 95 percent change of success.

When you go through the MBNA site via the comparison one it automatically puts you through their eligibility checker as well.

    UPDATE

Well decided to go for it and application was referred to underwriters because I have a protective CIFAS taken out by me. However all is well and have given me the 20 months interest free and on balance transfers at 1.5 percent.
