Whose travel insurance?

I'm going on holiday this year with my husband, son, mum and dad. My husband and I have travel insurance with our bank which covers us 2 and our son. Mum and dad have insurance through their bank. Here's where I'm confused - mum and dad are paying for me, my husband and my son to go on this holiday, so whose travel insurance needs to cover us 3 not being able to go for whatever reason?
