Parking Eye and Holiday Inn bottle out

I have been advising a friend of mine who was sent a Parking Charge by Parking Eye for an alleged infringement of a non-contract by the driver at a Holiday Inn. My friend contacted Holiday Inn, whose rep stated that the charge would be dropped because the driver of the car was a bona fide user of the hotel. PE nonetheless continued to issue a letter before county court claim stating, amongst other nonsense, that the time allowed for POPLA appeal had expired.
I suggested that my friend write back to PE, pointing out that an email trail for cancellation existed and that PE therefore had no authority to issue in the small claims court.
My friend gave them the option of cancelling, going to POPLA or going to court. My friend stated that they would expect a copy of the contract between Holiday Inn and PE, and also that the Holiday Inn manager who had allegedly cancelled the charge would be expected to attend the hearing in person. All copied to Holiday Inn management.
PE bottled out and cancelled.
Net result? I will not use Holiday Inn again. Neither will my friend. Neither will anyone who asks our advice.
A good result for my friend. Terrible result for Holiday Inn.

I would post this on Trip Advisor too, they don't like adverse publicity.0

Yes: I suppose I should also have made it as easy as possible for search engines to find a text string like Parking Eye Holiday Inn along with keywords like fine, charge, unjust and cancel0
