Hope someone can help!
I got my uncle this tablet for his birthday
http://m.ebuyer.com/731625
I know it's nothing fancy but all he'll do is play solitaire and sudoku on it so it's more than adequate for him. I stuck with Windows because his phone is Windows so assumed it would be familiar for him.
When it arrived I set it up, updated it to Windows 10 as it prompted all went smoothly. I installed the games I know he likes, triple checked all was working as it should (ran windows updates etc etc) then boxed it up and wrapped it.
He opened it yesterday. I've no idea what he's done (he says he's done nothing, I'm reluctant to believe this as he borrowed my auntys hudl 2 last week and managed to reset it to factory settings all the while claiming he did nothing but 'go into google') but two hours later and it won't connect to the Internet.
The wifi adaptor is a realtek rtl8723bs and the device status says the following
The device cannot start (error code 10)
STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE
I've tried uninstalling and scanning for new hardware. I've tried manually installing drivers. It lets me select drivers (it shows three compatible drivers) but then says there is an error when installing, no code just says error installing.
I know it was all working perfectly when I gave it to him. And I had switched it on and off several times to check if any issues would arise on restart etc.
Can't revert back to Windows 8.1 as once I checked it was all fine on Windows 10 I deleted the old Windows files.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Perhaps try and track down some different versions of the driver (i.e. not the 'latest') and see if you get any joy with those?
Failing the above image a Windows 8 iso onto a USB memory stick and re-install W8 OR as far as I'm aware W10 has a sort of self reset function - perhaps try that?
If you do manage to get it working again then set him up with a standard none admin user account - it'll save you all this hassle in future!0 -

Thanks. I did try several versions of the driver I found when googling but just got an error message when trying to install them.
There's no standard USB port and I wouldn't know where to start trying to do a clean install of Windows on a tablet.
I've gone into settings, recovery and backup and have gone through the reset this PC option. That's currently running so I'll see if that helps in a few minutes.
Do you know how I remove him as administrator and add myself? I don't have a Microsoft account and can't seem to see how to remove the current admin.Sigless0 -

If you're resetting it then all current accounts should be removed.
Setup local accounts on the tablet NOT "Microsoft accounts" (I believe there's an option in the bottom left of the setup screens).
Personally, I'd setup a generic Admin account (for which you could tell him the password or keep secret) and then a standard local user account for your uncle to use.
Use automatic login (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-vista/turn-on-automatic-logon) so that when he turns the tablet on it automatically logs him into his own account (he will then be none the wiser that an "admin" account even exists on the machine).
As I said, you can give him that admin password if you want (though it sort of defeats the purpose) or just play dumb and pretend not to know it this preventing him from making any changes.0 -

I chose the reset option that keeps files and accounts etc.
It works for the wifi and I've no idea why as when it restarted after the reset it gave an error message saying the restore could not be completed.
But the wifi adaptor was working and connecting as it should.
I'll have a look tonight and see about removing accounts. I could give him the password but it wouldn't matter as he'd forget it in ten minutes. I've no problem telling him he can't make changes.
I have a file in my drop box with all his email addresses and passwords in as he never remembers his email address never mind the passwords.
It doesn't help that he's doing a 'computer' course at the local library do now thinks he's quite the expert as they've shown him how to copy and paste.
He said he just clicked a few things to see what they were and it broke.Sigless0
