How often do people replace their kitchen these days?

We have lived here almost 30 years and we are on our third kitchen. We have changed to upgrade and we have changed because we went more open plan so the layout changed. We had the last one done about six or seven years ago I think and unless we decide to move ( to a specific house we have our eye on) then I suppose we will refit in a few years. We have already discussed a layout change.....0

I viewed a kitchen which was in poor state. The estate agent said something like "Well of course it doesn't matter because all buyers rip the kitchen out straight away". rotfl When I did get to buying a house, it had an 80's kitchen in it.It worked ok until I replaced it 3.5 years ago.0

The kitchen in my home was put in some time in the 70s. I see no need to change just for the sake of it. The units get painted every few years.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I moved into my house ten years ago, and replaced the kitchen eight years ago. Then last year I had the kitchen extended and knocked into the dining room - so another new kitchen. I've carefully dismantled the old one and put it in storage, we plan to fit it into a flat we rent out next time the tenant changes. The new kitchen I fitted myself, but had granite worktops fitted. I expect to move out of this house rather than ever change the kitchen again. The units are Ikea, so if I wanted I could change the doors and facia panels - its the latest Metod system, so as long as they don't change it for another system anytime soon. I think Faktum lasted a good 20 years or so.0

I read an article about a year ago that says the average life of a kitchen before replacement is 10 years.
More surprising, about 80% of people replace the kitchen when they buy a new to them house.
We've never replaced one, but you can date most kitchens by style and looks. Our current inherited cream shaker kitchen has been in about 13 years; you can tell: modern kitchens don't look like this. We're debating how much to change. I hate the laminate worktop and the 4x4 tiles look very old fashioned. That said, I dislike the new colours for kitchens, preferring a simple style in white. And most rooms can't handle wood due to size/light, in my opinion.0 -

Kitchens only need to be replaced if they are ever used.
Sitting in front of the telly with a takeaway and a beer may not help the belly, but it sure saves on kitchens and washing up.0
