Laptop repaired..still faulty

My son had his laptop repaired at ability systems in Witney Oxfordshire.
They said the hard drive had failed and replaced it at a cost of £130 and guaranteed it.
Within days the hard drive failed again and on returning it they said that even though it was new it was a faulty hard drive.
They fitted a second "new" hard drive which also failed.
Now they are saying it is a motherboard fault which is an expensive fix and have sent it to be tested ...they are mumbling about the cost of their failed hard drives.
My question is---why should we pay for anything again? ..they should have diagnosed the fault in the first place and definitely after another hard drive failure.
Should we be expected to pay for more work because they failed to find the fault??

What god awful website that company has!
Unfortunately though I don't think you've got much of a case. If the motherboard is cooking HDD's then you'd have to replace the HDD either way?0 -

As I read it the company are wanting the OP to pay for the cooked hdd's already been replaced.
However I am of the opinion that they do not as the company failed in spectacular fashion to diagnose and fix the real problem so its their fault and their lossDont rock the boat

Apart from the awful website my gripe is that the machine wasn't tested to diagnose any faults to start with ...0 -
maybe they have bought a bad batch of "chin wang wong" hard drives
did you see the replacement drives?Save a Rachael

No we didn't see the drives but they've fitted yet another HDD and claim to have had it on test for 7 days. The machine is ready to collect but they won't give the original 1 year guarantee....they refuse to give any guarantee at all claiming that the discs failed because of misuse or mishandling of the laptop !!!!!! are they on about? It's a laptop ... you don't leave it at home.
In other words it may still have the original fault which they failed to diagnose.
Is it worth me pursuing them for a proper replacement or the original £130..They advertise a no fix-no fee policy.
Or trading standards??
Any advice out there?0 -
Any reputable hard drive will be covered under the manufacturer's own warranty, it's not like there are many companies in the market these days.No free lunch, and no free laptop
