Passport question, travelling when it expires within 3 months

My passport expires in May, I'm hoping to travel abroad before then, to southern Ireland (prob flying) and maybe france. Would the impending expiry date cause any problems ?

It might do for France as some countries insist on there being at least 6 months left. However, a passport isn't required to enter Eire if you're a UK citizen so I'd have thought that you'd be okay there if you're British.

Within the EU it only needs to be valid up to the end date of your trip, you don't need any additional validity. Outside the EU it varies and check the country requirements.
Oh and of course be aware if we exit EU the no additional validity may suddenly change.

No problems at all: the six months thing is only an issue for weird countries like China.

For the most part it only needs to be valid on arrival.

There are some exceptions and might be a couple of others but Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria it must be valid for intended stay.

In Europe a British passport has to be valid for the proposed duration of your stay, not just on arrival.

I believe that Ryan Air require a passport to fly from the UK to Eire.

Unless you want to specify a particular type of British passport then no it does not.
