Billed by coop and npower for gas
Options
Last year I switched my gas and electricity to coop from npower.
But this week I noticed email from blower about annual usage and it transpires they still been taking payment.
The coop also have me registered on there site as having gas and electricity.
Anyway I phoned blower find out what going on and they said I hadn't moved to coop.
Then she looked more closely and it transpires something really messed up when I was moving and I am not actually with either of them and I am technically a customer of the distributor (sse).
Npower have told me to phone sse and get date I no longer became npower customer and they will repay me. They say coop will owe me money too since they been billing me as well.
I asked who I actually owe money too as I thought I was with coop and I have never been told or billed by the distributor and she said technically sse.
Just wondering what my rights are since I thought and it looked like I was with the coop.

If you applied to the Coop to switch and they formally acknowledged it, then the Coop is responsible for managing all aspects of the switch. Call them and ask them to check the meter database. If there is an issue, then the Coop should take matters forward with NPower. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Npower checked the database and said I am not registered with either and are billing me when I am not officially customer.
This has been on going for 12 months as I had knowledment email from coop that I was a customer but npower say there been a right mess up and according to database I am not with anyone.0 -
Just remind them of their Licence obligation to manage all aspects of the switch. If your meter is not showing on the National database then the Coop should initiate the necessary remedial action. The reason that NPower is still charging you is because they have not received final meter readings. You will not pay for the same energy twice. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
