The tip near me has a clothes/rags section. One of the things not allowed are pillows and quilts as probably the material - feathers or the synthetic stuff isn't recyclable.

Sorry to disagree with some posters, but some dog rescues do want duvets. One near me used to refuse them, but now take those which are not feather filled, refusing the latter as the dogs would tear them open to get at the 'birds'.

They need lots of bedding (duvets, blankets, throws, towels and even pillow slips), as it is not possible to launder on the scale required , so it's a case of use then dispose.

    Hi,

    is it feather/down or polyester?

If feather/down, just cut it up and let it fly.

Oh yes, the birds will be nesting soon - they'll love it.

And you don't know a single person who has a car? If that's really the case then find out whether it would be cheaper to pay for council kerb-side pick up or to take a taxi to the tip and back.

Phone your council and ask them.

Have you phoned the council and asked them how you should dispose of it? Has this not dawned on you in 7 weeks?
