Got a letter this morning saying the above account which I have been paying £6.50 a month for past 4 years is too be changed to their tech pack with and increased fee of £9.50
Also it will not include the extended warranty cover.
They are dressing this up as its a better account for customer and that we should be grateful (hate it the way big businesses dress this up and go about it).

Did they state the alternative?
Nobody can make you upgrade or pay more, politely ask what lesser / cheaper / free account types are open to you.The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
If you're not happy paying the £9.50 you can of course just have a free standard current account.
Understandably disappointing to have the price hiked, but think of it this way, you've been enjoying a £3 monthly discount for the past 4 years compared to what a new-to-bank customer would have to pay.
The extended warranty still exists but now falls under the Home Pack (£6/mo). Up to you if you think this is worth paying for... you can take this alongside the Tech Pack and get a £2 multi-pack discount. Also, do you have Blue Rewards? You can use that to offset the cost of Feature Store packs.
Unfortunately getting rid of packaged accounts is becoming quite widespread. The high street banks have been burned so badly by mis-selling claims over the last few years that they're becoming viewed as a liability.: )0
