British Gas - Warm Home Discount
Hi,
last year I received my Warm Home Discount [British Gas] mid December. It's now March and I still haven't received it. I checked and I definitely applied again [in June 2015] and was approved. My circumstances haven't changed. Are other people experiencing delays?
Cheers.

It's normally applied to your first bill after about October showing a reduction of £133.33 plus £6.67 VAT refund making £140 total. If you were approved last summer then give them a ring to see what has happened to it.0

Best bet is to give them a ring. Seeing as you applied so early I would have thought you should have received it already. However, people can receive the payment up until the end of March.0

The rules of the scheme are that the payment has to be on the account by the end of March. If anyone is on a Prepay meter it can take a bit longer to receive the vouchers due to only being able to process through the Royal mail and Paypoints so many thousand at a time. I would expect the majority of payments to be on the accounts by now unless people applied at the last minute or the DWP send problematic Core account through to us. This can often be that someone who is on Guaranteed Pension Credit has moved home or supplier.
If anyone has not received the payment by 31st March 2016 this is when you should call.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0 -
Mine was taken off last March's bill, so I'm expecting it to be the same again this year.0

Hi All....
I rang SSE ( my providers) on April 1st as I could not tell if we had received our WHD discount for 2015.
Was told that there was NO application in place for 2015..!!!
I replied that I know factually I had sent it in as I had called the week after it was sent to make sure it had arrived ( having sent it by Recorded Delivery, so it would have had to be signed for) and was told then that it was in hand and being dealt with.
(Sadly I didn't ( for once) log the person name or the date/time that I spoke to them)
However, on January 18th this year my partner spoke to one of SSE's employees who also reassured him that our claim for our WHD was going through fine...
(He did log in the date/time and person he spoke to )
So, now I have the ongoing worry, as the young lady who is dealing with our complaint has spoken to her Manager, who STILL cannot find any record of our application ( I've never missed a year since WHD starting, due to both of us being disabled it REALLY helps keep us warm over the Winter months, so know that I did it PLUS ''we'' have obviously spoken twice to SSE's employees to verify it was ''in hand'' and being dealt with)
Monday the young lady called and said that due to nothing showing regarding our application, SSE are willing to give us a £70 goodwill gesture towards our heating bill, as they could see we have always had it in the past...
I am SO angry as that £140 really does help with our Winter Fuel Bill....
Do I accept the £70 goodwill gesture..OR try an fight for our rightful amount due???0 -
Apologies....my hubby posted our question on your query by mistake...
Trying to find HOW to start a new post/thread...
Any ideas???0 -

Take it, you either have rights and the DWP will enforce them [Core Group] paid automatically every year on DWP's instructions. Or you were Broader Group and had no rights as such but were one of many millions who applied for a 1st come 1st served limited 'hand out' fund, applications must be made each year and are not automatic.
Best of luck.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I am aware that we have to apply yearly..and have done so ever since the WHD has been in place...SSE mentioned that during our conversation today..:)
Just annoyed that the employee that my hubby spoke to in January was aware that our application was in place and being processed..and yet all of a sudden it has disappeared...:/0
