Phone contract at 17 and parents credit score

Hi I hope to get some advice.
I'm currently 16 years old and my mobile phone contract is currently in my dads name and I pay him monthly for my bill.
However, I turn 17 this year and a few days after my phone contract finishes and my dad refuses to renew it for fears it will effect his credit score.
What options to I have available to me? I have a part time job and are more than capable to cover the cost of the bill each month without fail.
Thank you in advance for your help, Josh.

Get a Pay as you Go. You can't have a contract under the age of 18.
Or convince your dad you're not going to run up a huge bill as ask him to carry on with the contract. As long as the bill gets paid on time, it won't impact his file.0 -
So as long as the bill is paid on time each month for the 24 month duration of the contract it will have no negative impact on the credit score? And won't effect future chances of getting a morgage etc...0

Ask your Dad to renew the contract and offer to pay the phone bill by direct debit from your bank account.
It's only until your eighteen you can then transfer the account into your own name if you want to keep the number.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Try and persuade him very nicely to get s Tesco phone contract where the only way to go above the monthly cost is for you to top it up. Ie from his bank account is the agreed monthly outgoing which gets you a certain amount of minutes, texts and megabytes. Above this or to ring more premium you have to top it up yourself, this way dad never ends up with any surprise bills but you remain on a contract.
Failing that giffgaff offer for 10 pounds a month 500 mins, 1gb and unlimited texts as well as many other packages which include unlimited minutes, dada etc and this is on pay as you go but you pay at the start of the month for the bundle of what you like and can change this every month.0 -
Definitely use GiffGaff.. it's not technically a contract as you buy 'bags' each month. You can't use more than your allocated minutes/texts/data, and you can top them up if you have to. If you want to stop the 'contract', just just stop renewing the bags. There's no age limit as it isn't a contract.
It starts at a fiver a month - https://www.giffgaff.com/sim-only-plans0 -

No - if anything it'll be good for his credit record.
If you ( or he ) are worried about going over your allotted allowance, most providers give you the option to cap the usage so that you can't go over it. Certainly Tesco do, as that's exactly what we did with my lad.0 -

So, I'm thinking giffgaff to be the best option and as long as the payments are made on time it will not have any negative impact whatsoever? I did think this but just wanted to clarify.0

payments do not need to be made on time! as their is no contract , just top up when you run out
