Paypal - how to stop auto-exchange of currency

This is only indirectly related to Ebay but not sure where else to ask. I recently added a new creditcard to my Paypal account. Made an Ebay purchase on the US site the other day and paid with my card through Paypal. Checking my card statement today I noticed that the USD amount had been converted to currency of my card automatically (at a !!!!!! rate of course). Never had this happen and can't see where to switch it off in Paypal. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

If its a regular purchase, get a Fairfx card & add it to Paypal
    I have both US$ & € Fairfx cards

There is an option to be charged in GBP & use Paypal's FX or to charges in US$ & have your bank FX
