I'm sure there's lots of places you can go abroad and not have to worry about a bank. Get rid of your mortgage and all bank accounts and live here, then no-one will be able to trace you.can anybody recommend a bank that would keep your personal information private. I would even consider going abroad to open such an account.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
In my opinion it's extremely unlikely that any form of fraud is perpetrated by virtue of accessing data held by the credit rating agencies, so if that's what you were implying then I think you're barking up the wrong tree (perhaps one of the appealing palms in the photo!).Going back to the credit card fraud department about keeping my data private so I don't loose any money in the future, they advised that it was impossible as my personal information is allowed by law to be shared or purchased as a means for organisations to make decisions on wether or not they give me credit even though I don't want credit
You'll find that any dealings with credit card companies or banks will be covered by Ts & Cs that expressly allow data sharing with the CRAs in both directions for legitimate purposes - if you hadn't consented to this you wouldn't have been given a credit card in the first place!0 -
Credit files/historiesHi All
I have recently been subject to credit card fraud and was lucky enough to get my money back. Having discussed my case with the credit card fraud department, I decided to look into my private information and how it is used. They advised getting two credit check reports
:huh:and internet searches
So, are you saying that any potential lender has no right to know how much you already owe?on both names and address. When i read both credit check reports, I was furious that my bank had allowed my personal details including amounts of my mortgages to anybody that wants to pay for it through these agencies.
Usually you do give a permission, but simply don't check thoroughly all details to notice this.My accounts can also be directly accessed by numerous government and local government departments without my permission.
Would you prefer going/driving to offices or sending certified copies every time some department wants to check your ID?
What about the mortgage?Going back to the credit card fraud department about keeping my data private so I don't loose any money in the future, they advised that it was impossible as my personal information is allowed by law to be shared or purchased as a means for organisations to make decisions on wether or not they give me credit even though I don't want credit
Many people, including in banks, refer to the DPA while knowing nothing about it.AND that the Data Protection Act means the total opposite.
Basic bank accounts usually don't get reported to CRAs.My question for advice, can anybody recommend a bank that would keep your personal information private.0 -

'Usually' being the operative word here. Punters should be advised that a whole raft of organisations have unfettered access to CRA data about you, and can add data to the files, with or without your consent.0
