IKEA - discontinued faulty machine

As part of a new kitchen we purchased an integrated coffee machine from IKEA. It matched our other appliances, was stylish and didn't have branding blazoned all over it. After a 4 month battle to get someone out to fix it (have a 5 year guarantee) the engineer didn't know how to, neither did his company or anyone else who was sent. Ikea have told me they cannot replace it because they don't sell it anymore IKEA have offered to take it out and put some sort of doors over the hole!!! It's a really slick integrated kitchen which is handle less and doors over a small hole would look mental. They've also offered to refund me my £300 However having done a search on equitably looking and functioning machines they start at £1,100 with only a 2 year guarantee.
Would would I be entitled to please. I've been messed around for 4 months and just want a comparable machine in its place - not doors or a hole?

If the £300 is the amount that you originally paid then they have done as much as the law requires by offering this.
Why not see if they will give you the money and let you keep the coffee maker then see if you can get it repaired.
If you do a Google search you may well be able to find out who the original manufacturer was (Ikea will buy the appliance from them without any branding on it) and see if they can repair it or supply a replacement.0 -
If you leave it in situ, you won't have a hole.0

They are not going to give you £1100 so I would personally take their offer and utilise the space....0

Miss biggles - don't really understand your reply!!!
Poppies - yes it's whirlpool and they said they haven't been trained to repair it!
Kvlc3 - would have a 400 mile round trip and pay to uninstall and reinstall and no 5 year guarantee
Thanks anyway0 -
Coo - next time I'm looking for a hard-to-find item, can I give you a call:D0 -

So what do you want (other than the £1k plus fitting costs which in your wildest dreams you're not going to get) ?0 -
When did you buy it and what does the guarantee state about when your machine cannot be repaired? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

I don't think I can put it more clearly.0
