With all due respect if it was about the money then I'd be pushing the legal route.

You are asking about who should pay the water bill. How is it not about the money?

The bills have been paid. I was asking what is right and what is wrong in the situation. Your assertion that I "smelled gold" is wide of the mark. Are we happy that my gf has shelled out the best part of £2k on water rates which the contract states are the LL's responsibly? No, but we're not stamping our feet and demanding the money from the LL either.

Have to agree - of course it's about money.

You are unhappy. Why? Because of £2K paid. How is that not about money?

    If anyone is interested..

My girlfriend spoke to the landlord at lunch time. Landlord dug out the contract and was extremely apologetic and insisted on settling all backdated rates if my gf forwards her the bills.

The insinuation from some posters was that we were looking to take advantage of the situation to cash in. I just wanted to know where we stood as I felt there was a possibility my gf had been unfairly disadvantaged by the situation and the LL had benefitted. It seems the LL agreed.
