Hi, hoping you clever people can give some advice. My son was involved in a car accident last night, hit some black ice on a corner and car slid off road, no one involved and he was okay but the passenger side wheel was damaged. Car is being assessed today and he is fully covered, also will get courtesy car.
However, his insurance expires on the 4th - this Friday, and he had done some comparisons and found a few providers around about £120 per year cheaper and planned to change to the best one for himself. Now he has heard you can't change provider if there is an open claim, this is news to me but he may be correct. It looks like he will lose 2 years no claims bonus as this will be a fault rather than no fault claim and there is also the £200 excess to be paid so he is smarting at also losing out on cheaper insurance deal. Sod's Law !
Any thoughts would be appreciated if a new provider would be reluctant to offer him insurance with this new claim ongoing.

You can change provider but new insurer will assume loss of NCB and quote you accordingly.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0

You may find the new quote is loaded as the exact cost of the claim wont be determined for a while.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
