Washer/Dryer exchange or replacement

I was wondering if i could get some advice. I purchased a washer dryer - Zanussi ZWD71463W Washer Dryer which has made an unholy noise during the spin, the engineer has found a few things wrong with it so John Lewis will do an exchange or replacement. The transit bolts were removed.

I live in a flat with no access to a garden, no space for a separate dryer and hence thought for those days when I didn't want clothes up and drying everywhere it would be a good option to use as and when.

Once I actually had the dryer - I only used it a few times :o

What would you guys do? Options are to replace with the same model, to exchange for a washing machine at the same price (the other washer dryers are a lot more expensive), or a cheaper washing machine model and get one of those heated rail dryers- they seem to be around £100 so would want a washing machine at £299.

Sorry for the essay everyone! Thanks in advance :)

You can also consider get a dehumidifier put it in your bedroom (when you are not in the room) with damp clothes instead of heated rail.
this reduce the risk of getting mould in the flat.

I've also got a Zanussi washer/dryer (not sure what version - I'm at work so can't check, but it cost around £450). Had it for about 3.5 years now but only started really using the dryer in the last 6 months when I moved to a place with less drying space. It has been fine ( touch wood - hope I'm not tempting fate by saying this!). What I do is use the 30 degree wash to save money on that and then use the spin cycle (which is 16 min cycle) - to get as much water out as possible, then use the dryer after taking out the clothes I can't tumble. This has worked well over the winter using the 'auto-dry cupboard' function.

When I bought it (I also got it from John Lewis) - I took out the 5 year warranty which I would recommend. I've been very happy with this washer/dryer so far - if I was in your position, I'd probably stick with one of these rather than have damp clothes hanging around.
  • Thank you guys.

@Cisco001 I do always have windows open when I dry clothes inside, and never dry clothes on the radiator. In the summer things dry quickly, but in the winter it can take 2 days for towels to dry- and it can be an eye sore. I definitely want to speed this process along in the winter really.

A work colleague mentioned that the heated drying racks could be alternative option- but I'd also want a timer so it wasn't running for too long.

@Loops2112 The Zanussi dryer option did work really well- it's almost silent when drying. So fingers crossed yours still works well for you! It's the spin cycle due to a broken part thats causing the issues at the moment- but John Lewis/Zanussi have been super prompt with handling it.
