Mixer tap on side of sink

I have ordered a new sink for our bathroom from and the tap can be situated on the left or right (mixer tap) but not in the middle as it's a 300mm deep sink. The rest of the family have expressed their dismay at this, but I'm keen to save space by having a narrower sink. Has anyone got such a sink in their bathroom - is it a total pain not having the tap in the middle?
If anyone's interested, It's the Alpine 660 basin on the Bathstore website (sorry, can't post the link as I haven't made enough posts).

The only issue I can see is access to the tap lever on the side closest to the wall, might be a bit tight. Kitchen taps are rarely central on the sink though so if the angle is right I can't see why it would be too much of an issue. Is it just a change to what they're used to that might be the sticking point or do they have specific concerns? I find the tap in the centre of the basin to be more annoying as if it is fixed it often gets in the way.0

We've found ours to be just fine, but in our case this was literally the only way a washbasin could be fitted into the space.
I would say you should make sure it is installed with the tap at the far end as the user approaches the basin, especially if it's sited in a corner. There are some example photos on the Bathstore site where this is not the case (e.g. the Alpine 495) and to my mind it looks awkward.0 -
Perhaps the family are worried about all that 'quality' exuding from it and sticking to the floor?

Seriously, I agree with GM; installing something functional that everyone will use should entail consultation at an early stage, not telling them afterwards that some random persons on the internet don't have a problem with it!0
