Want to spend a few days in Liverpool but a bit dubious about driving into the city centre (old fogey).
Been looking at the Best Western hotel Alicia at Sefton park.
How easy is it to get into the city from there or are there any other recommendations.
Thanks.

Going for a few days isn't exactly going out, is it?
The UK Holidays Forum may be the more suitable place to ask about accommodation.0 -
Sefton is about an hour away from city centre via public transport. There are plenty of hotels closer and a few good deals this time of year.
Parking in the city centre would cost a few quid plus you got a lot of full car parks. Driving might fray the nerves as a lot of roadworks at this time.
I'd look for a cheap Premier Inn or something. Find one and check on google maps if its close enough or has good transport links.
Good luck.0 -
Sefton Park is not Sefton moneysavingscouser!
This area is Aigburth its lovely, and has Lark Lane with a great variety of bars and restaurants.
About 20 mins by bus or train to city centre from here
Dont know much about the hotel but its a lovely area to stay, Sefton Park is beautiful0 -
Yes just to clarify that Sefton and Sefton Park are 3 different places.
Sefon Park is in the Liverpool City boundary
There is a village called Sefton also in the Borough of Sefton about 30 minutes drive north of Liverpool city Centre
The borough of Sefton starts in Bootle about 5 miles north of Liverpool City Centre and stretches to Crossens just North of Southport.
Driving in Liverpool city centre is easy though obviously you will need to pay for car parking. Liverpool city centre is small and can be walked across in 20 minutes no need for public transport in the city centre area. From the hotel you are talking about you would be looking at 20 minutes on public transport faster in a taxi. Sefton park and the surrounding area is a nice place to chill out though personally I would prefer to be in the city centre as it gives you more options.0 -
We go to Sefton park quite regularly with my lil girl. If I'm honest, it's ok. I prefare it later in the day to avoid the crowds. As said above, I'd stay in the city centre.
Although Sefton park area is quite expensive (for Liverpool) the the further you get away the worse it gets, in fact parts are pretty run down.
On the other hand, otterspool prom is prob 10mins walk from Sefton park and there is s coastal path that run along the river to the Albert Dock and beyond, lovely walk, or jump on 1 of the green rent a bikes and cycle, they have bike racks full off rent a bikes dotted all around that area and quite a few people use them.0
