British Gas - Switch price not so cheap?
Options
On the advice of MSE, and to save money, I recently switched from Sainsbury's duel fuel tariff (£114 p/m) to British GAS duel fuel tariff (supposedly £99 p/m).
I now find that although the switch has yet to be completed my "new supplier" is going to charge me £112 p/m ? - where's the savings in that???

Hi Smicky55

Hope this explanation helps.0 -
Hi - welcome to the forum. You have fallen into the old trap of comparing DD amounts which in the greater scheme of energy costs are meaningless. You need to compare the two tariffs: the old with the new.
It is possible that as BG and Sainsburys are effectively the same Company that they have calculated a different annual usage figure in kWhs of gas and electricity per year than you have. The good news is that DD payments are only payments on account - that is, a credit against future bills. You will only pay for the energy that you use.
