Hi, i just caught the end of a news report saying something about as of today (1st March 2016) you don't pay tax on child places on holidays.
Did anyone else hear more on weather you can reclaim it if you already have a holiday booked?
If yes, what do i say?
thanks

Air Passenger Duty is no longer levied on under-16s. Some airlines will refund automatically, some you need to contact to claim. If you have bought a package holiday then I imagine that the refund would have to come from whoever you bough the package from, if indeed it is due in that circumstance.0

It's Air Passenger Duty.
If you've paid it for the children then yes you can claim it back.
You may have paid £13 per person. Or £71 if it is a long haul flight.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

It's the APD on the flight, not the holiday.
May companies haven't been charging it any way because they knew the change was coming.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

We have long haul flights booked with American Airlines for 22nd March, we booked and paid for them in November of last year and we are travelling with a 14 year old. A few days after booking we received a refund, infact 2 refund amounts of £71 each to the credit card we used. We didn't know what the refunds were for but they were the APD part of the fare for the 14 year old.
American Airlines are one of the airlines, who, if you booked by AA reservations or AA.com proactively refund. If you booked through a travel agent then the travel agent has to process the refund or so I understand.0 -
Instead of making a new thread i thought it would be ok to ask my similar question here.
I have paid for 2adults 2 kids to fly from Manchester to Orlando in May 2016. I booked the flights through "Air Express" to fly with Virgin Atlantic. After looking on their site it says contact whoever it was booked through. I have no idea on the breakdown of a ticket price as it just shows a gross price per person.
I booked and paid for the tickets around Nov 2015. How do i go about finding out if i have been charged APD and how do i claim it back? Would an email do the job?
Thanks0 -
There has been no APD for children under 12 for over a year, the change today only applies to children over 12 and up to 16. If your children are under 12 there is no refund due as it will not have been charged in the first place. Some airlines do have a problem with today's change as they treat over 12's as adults and unless they are aware of the age of the person, APD will have been charged and needs to be reclaimed.0

If you've booked a package holiday and you're due a refund, it would be deducted before you pay your balance.0
