nope, thats just you and your "assumptions" once again

    it is what it is

I am not privy to what the armed forces decide to do in their meetings, or what the cabinet office do when they are in the bunker, but I dont assume that nothing happens , I dont assume its a secret club for members only, I dont assume you need a funny handshake or have to be a mason (but I do assume they dont want the "enemy" to know their secrets)

I once worked in a secret underground bunker for several years, I dont expect you to know where it is, what it was for or why it was there, but it was (and still is)

sometimes I think you need to step back and see the bigger picture, dont expect everything to be done out in the open, your usage of ASSUME just makes an A$$ of U and ME ;)

sometimes its your lack of attention to detail that lets you down and at times I show you where you missed something , in a prankster blog like the MIL collections, or in a reply on here or pepipoo sometimes, somewhere there is something I have read and understood and you have missed in your bull in a china shop hurry to create posts or threads

I admire what you are trying to achieve, but your gung ho approach that papers over some cracks or shout it from the rooftops doesnt help, which is why sometimes you are criticised like today, or the other week

as an ex engineer on tech support I deal with facts , attention to detail , not supposition, we were taught "never to assume" , check it out , prove it, obtain the facts, do the research

read that anthony thread, the uni student, his attention to details is terrible, so bad I wonder what they teach him at uni ? appalling doesnt describe it

I dont want people like him fixing my boiler , or repairing my car, or operating on my ears , or helping me in court

I woud not want him dismantling laptops to change the hdd or replace the cracked screen , he would lose all the screws and not have taken a picture of the item before dismantling it, nor backed it up nor made a note of the installation key nor watched a youtube video of how to do it

sadly, attention to detail is sadly lacking and when all the "oldies" have retired or popped their clogs I dont see much evidence of who will take their place for all this technical stuff , many people cant even find the blue or red NEW THREAD button :) (or the drop down NEW THREAD either) nor know how to alter their "skin" theme in the control panel (perhaps I am in a secret development "club" for vbulletin developers ? or not)

look, understand that this is a debate, no bad feelings either side.
There are simply no assumptions, they are questions, people need to know what you are talking about.
The questions remain unanswered. Even in the Masons there is an answer to every question, trust me.

What is the "anthony thread" ??? the newbies visiting will not have a clue, all they want is how they can get off the parking ticket.

As far as newbies not being able to navigate the site, there must be a lot of tolerance given because they are new. I mean previous comments confirm this from newbies complaining about rudeness, and one who said "these are old men using a laptop in their mothers box room" Nobody can assume that users understand how to change the colour scheme. And YES, "attention to detail is sadly lacking" ... It's called being a human being

You know, since 2009 when I joined the forums with the banking scams, I got a serious amount of money back for members, to the point that we sent bailiffs into a bank to seize goods.
The parking industry is yet another scam that will be defeated and if it means the word "corruption" enters the conversation so be it.

I have no intention of teaching others how to use websites and how to navigate forums, or posting links to threads so they dont have to do the research

its like the alteration to old theme or new theme in your vbulletin control panel, if you cannot figure it out its not my job to teach you jusy because I have replied

I have no intention of explaining everything so even a 5 year old can deal with it , if people want to learn to drive , they can get lessons, like I told the wife and she paid a driving instructor and only got a set of keys after passing her test (no lessons from me)

people are generally too lazy now and the internet has made it worse, nobody does anything for themselves, half dont even change batteries in remotes or light bulbs cos they cant reach (find a chair) , I have regularly admonished my grandkids so now they do the work before asking for help, they only ask when really stuck , less as time goes on because they do the work and dont expect it all on a plate

if you havent read the anthony thread , that is your fault , not mine , maybe read more and post less threads ? ;)

and no I wont get into a debate on this, but you are right, its just shooting the breeze , not being malicious , but please reign it in a bit and do more research so when something is written you dont jump all over it just cos you dont understand it

and when you wish to post "news" , make sure its not a damp squib , ie:- non-news

and my mother is dead, this is my box room, in my own bought and paid for house , done so because I did the work and havent left it to others, am self taught in most subjects, including computers and the internet, self help is my watch word, what you dont know, research it, dont ask others, do the work yourself and read and search until you drop

Right, this post means nothing to me, and even less to newbies

You see, I do understand, I do research but I cannot answer your post because it makes no sense, must be more defined first please

not going to happen because I am not spending all night writing war and peace, if you dont understand my reply , thats your problem ;) lol

I have never been a teacher and dont intend to start now, I was tech support in comms and only deal in facts and expect people to learn the basics and we take it from there , if that means reading the NEWBIES sticky thread we tell them to do so dozens of times per day

like I told this newbie who does "get it" , or gets it now

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5422361

I am not here to give people like you clarity, I only come here to help those in true need , like in the above thread

ps:- I dont mind you mentioning corruption or inferring corruption

I object to you asking me my views on any possible corruption or backhanders !

I dont come on here to talk about those topics, I come here to advise others like newbies and newbies dont need to know about what happens "behind the scenes"

I do not answer to you, nor anyone else, I reply if I decide to and say what I like, within the rules , as a volunteer poster I dont have to follow any other rules or guidelines apart from posting etiquette and to anyone who does not understand it, that is their problem

as for the colour scheme , I mentioned it because you have told newbies to use the blue button, but for newbies its a red button, not a blue button, again , attention to detail

the fact that you dont know how to change it is irrelevant as your statement to newbies was still incorrect

in any case, you broke your own "rules" by starting this as a new thread becasue those "newbies" wont understand the context, this is because what you should have done is added post #1 of this thread as a reply in your BEAVIS PETITION thread so they could see the history behind why you posted this thread today , so one continuous thread and not several fragmented threads which is what you tend to do and is what we tell people off from doing when they start several threads instead of maintaining one thread only

It does not really matter now, I guess like me and everyone who signed the petition, they have received an email direct from government so the message has reached the 10,000 plus people.
That is all that was needed

I used it as another excuse to write you my own MP and reiterate that the Govt don't really understand the issue, due to use of the word 'fines' (also used by Pete Wishartwhen he tabled Parliamentary EDM 458 on the subject).!

some additional info in the email below
The Petitions Committee will take a look at this petition and its response. They can press the government for action and gather evidence. If this petition reaches 100,000 signatures, the Committee will consider it for a debate.

The Committee is made up of 11 MPs, from political parties in government and in opposition. It is entirely independent of the Government. Find out more about the Committee: https://petition.parliament.uk/help#petitions-committee
    Thanks,
    The Petitions team
    UK Government and Parliament
its still not real news though as yet, not until some real action is taken

like the FOI changes that have been scrapped, which could have made our task harder

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-35693236

the OP should pm crabman and have this thread merged with his PETITION thread if he wants newbies to be able to see the continuity and context, so less threads and more continuity would help newbies understand it, not the fragmented disjointed approach we see now

Entirely predictable (and predicted) response: "Yeah we know, we're looking at it".

Petition was a complete waste of time.
