DMP - PPI claim

Hi - my son was with a debit management company for quite sometime - when we recovered some of the mis-sold PPI from some of his lenders, we noticed that the debit management statements also had PPI charges on them, would we need to direct our claim to the debit management company or with the insurers? we don't have all the statements - any advise would be appreciated - don't understand why would apply a PPI charge to a debit someone is struggling to pay.
