My new Toshiba laptop has done this twice now, I thought the first was just a passing thing but no.
Here's what happens normally. I leave the pc in sleep mode. Once in this mode for a length of time (with the on/off button blinking) it seems to go into a deeper mode (with the on/off button lamp off). Perhaps this is hibernate mode - I can't find out. Never mind, when I press the on/off button to wake it up, I first see a screen (screen 1) showing only the date and time. I click on this, then my own sign-on screen appears (screen 2), I move over the 'sign-in' tile and click. Now I'm in my own log-in session (screen 3).
That's normal but what's happened twice now is that when I get to screen 3, the cursor is invisible (it's there on the previous two screens). I can move my wireless mouse around and see various tiles changing colour and the mouses buttons and wheel are functioning OK. By doing this I was able to check the mouse settings and there wasn't anything unusual. Plugging a usb mouse in made no difference. (I have the touchpad disabled cos my wife leans her hands on it and it seems to disable the keypad).
I called tech support (free for a period on this laptop) and they took me through a process of uninstalling the wireless mouse and touchpad drivers. On restarting, all is well but the drivers where showing as the latest anyway.
I'll keep an eye on it and will maybe return the laptop but I wondered if anyone has any ideas. Is this a Toshiba problem or a Windows 10 problem?
Thanks for any help.
