Morgage / deed documents

Hi
Would anyone know how to get original property Deeds with Title Register and Title Plan. and conveyance report?

I believe I can order from land registry office only, from what ive been told. for a charge £50 +.

I have contacted my mortgage company plus the solicitors ,they both have said they don't have the documents.

Has anyone ordered the documents from land registry before? did it have the full details of the property. inc history/owner /boundaries ect?

Thank you in advance

Total £1329.86 :)

  • Why don't the solicitors or mortgage company hold the docs? I thought they had to keep them for at least 7 years if not indefinitely

You can obtain copies of the title register and plan, and if needed copies of any deeds that we hold, from us but these shouldn't cost as much as £50. Here are some useful links to our GOV.UK pages:
    https://www.gov.uk/search-property-information-land-registry
    https://www.gov.uk/get-information-about-property-and-land

I suggest you obtain copies of the register and plan first as that will tell you what documents we have filed, and also the current position.

We are unlikely to have copies of all of the pre-registration title deeds, and it's possible we won't have any. We only see these once when a property is registered for the first time and after registration they are returned to the applicant. After registration we set out all relevant matters on the title register and plan, and so the deeds do not have to be produced to prove ownership every time that a property is bought and sold. In many cases, we might have copies of some key documents, but in others it won't have been necessary to retain any copies.

You can order the register and plan on-line - see the first link I gave you before - but if you want copies of any deeds/documents that we have on file you'll have to apply by post - see step 4 on the second link.

I can't say how many documents we might have. As I said before, there may be very few or even none at all if we have set everything out on the register. And just to reiterate, you don't need these documents after a property has been registered to prove ownership, although they can of course be of historical or sentimental interest.

I suggest you obtain a copy of the register and if that doesn't provide what you need you can contact us on this link if you need help in establishing what copies we do hold:
