Knowhow Repairs
Howesy
At the start of November I moved into a rental property, where the landlord was in the process of getting the washing machine repaired using Knowhow. He had had someone come out to try and fix it, but he was unable to as he had the wrong part.
It is now the end of February, they have been to our property 5 times since then trying to fix this and every single time they have had the wrong part meaning they were unable to fix it. The excuses we have got have ranged from the manufacturer has supplied the wrong part, to straight up that the previous engineer diagnosed the problem incorrectly. This is on top of the fact that they have promised to come on 3 more occasions, before cancelling on the morning of.
This means that my housemate and I have taken 8 days off work / working from home for repairs to be carried out, and we've been having very expensive weekly trips to the launderette. I opened a complaint in December as I was fuming then, I've completely had it now. We can't afford to hire another company to come and fix this, yet I have serious doubts that Knowhow will ever manage to get the job done. It's an absolute shambles, and despite talking to the customer service team on the phone on countless occasions, they have not been able to get anything done.
As I'm quite useless with things like this, I'd like to open it up to suggestions as to what to do (And what I should be expecting of them). Thanks

Your first sentence leads me to believe that the landlord has some role to play here.At the start of November I moved into a rental property, where the landlord was in the process of getting the washing machine repaired using Knowhow. Is the washing machine supplied as part of the let?
If so, then more pressure needs to be put on the landlord to resolve this.0 -
Washing machine was supplied as part of the let, correct. It's a bit of a weird one, it's a 6 month let as he has just retired and gone travelling. Meaning he will be back in a couple of months to move back in again.
We have details of his sister who we can get in touch with (here in the UK), however we kind of took up the reins ourselves when he left on his travels.0 -
Any redress you have is with the Landlord, you have no consumer rights with Knowhow.
You're better off asking in the Renting board.0 -

I agree. The landlord has failed to fulfil his part of the contract with you.
I don't know what legal rights you have, but I would either look into the possibility of charging the landlord for any loss of income and laundry service fees, or at buying a washing machine and billing him for it.
Just check your rights first, do everything by the book, and keep all records and receipts of lost earnings, costs incurred, etc.0
