Insuring new home

Hi,

Im currently looking at quotes for insurance on a house I am buying that we have just exchanged on. I've been on an online comparison website and there is a question on there - how many continuous years have you held contents insurance without making a claim?. I thought the answer was 8 years - I based this answer from when I purchased my current property till when I first made a claim in 2013. I made another claim for damage to contents last year. I'm confused as to what to put because I have spoken to an insurer that I have looked at and she is saying that this means I have no years no claims insurance built up on contents so I called my present insurer and they are saying I have four years no claims on contents but that they cant advise me as to what I should be entering in this box.

Apologies if I havent worded this question very well I am up to my eyes in boxes at the moment and have a baby to look after.

I just want to make sure I am entering truthful and accurate information on the form. Any advise would be greatfully appreciated,

Thanks

If you made a claim last year then you have 0 years contents insurance without making a claim. I presume the 4 years is like the NCD with car insurance and you build it up but it doesnt necessarily reset to 0.

The NCD stuff is a smokescreen.

Answer the question that is asked.

The answer is 0 as you last claimed in 2015.

Effectively, that question is "How many years since your last claim?", not "In your whole life, what's the longest you ever went without making a claim?". :)
