Amazingly, I just talked to a structural engineer - yes, at this hour! A hard worker that one. I'm just looking to knock through possibly 2-2.5m long load bearing wall. I got a neighbour upstairs, and their stairs sit on top of the wall. Essentially I've just been quoted £300 for a visit to see if it's load bearing or not/feasible or not, and an extra £120 per beam. VAT inclusive. First quote I got back - opinions? Excessive?
