PCN for stopping on restricted bus stop when no buses are operating

Hi,
I hope someone can give me some advice.
I received a PCN for parking on a bus lane at 23:43 and the timetable shows that the last running bus comes at 23:28, which means I was not obstructing any buses or pedestrians.
Also the image I was provided shows my car having brake lights on, so its possible that I came to a stop at the designated parking area, which is connected with the bus stop lane.

I do remember that on the day, I had to stop for a while as my friend had to get out of the car and go to the shop, so I wouldn't have my foot on the brake if the car was stationary. However; I cant exactly remember if I drove forward into the parking spot as it was late and over two weeks ago.
So my question is, is it fair for the council to give me the PCN and can anything be done?

So it's not a good idea to appeal, even if no buses were operating at the time I parked on the bus stop?

Unless there are operating times on a sign by the bus stop, no. I suggest you go to pepipoo.com for a council ticket. They specialise on private tickets on here.

Need a bit more info as in the contravention code for a start.

But assuming that the OP has parked on a restricted bus stop (as per the thread title) the stop has to be supported by a yellow plate sign bearing a clearway or no waiting symbol with the wording "No Stopping Except Buses". The stop should also have a thick yellow line running through it at the kerbside. If the plate has no times on it then the restriction is in force 24/7 irrespective of what the bus time table says. But if it has times on it then that is when the restriction is in force.

As far as the actual contravention is concerned, the 'offence' is committed as soon as the vehicle is 'stopped' as it is not a 'no waiting' offence but a 'no stopping offence' (a lot of people don't seem to know the difference and the definition of 'no stopping'). It's a bit like stopping on pedestrian crossing zig zags. In a nut shell, if you allow a passenger to get out/in your car then you have technically 'stopped'.

i can only imagine that the OP in that particular instance was very lucky or the LA decided to be lenient. The OP 'thought' that by changing his driving licence details would automatically change the RK details of his vehicle. Obviously that isn't how the DVLA work.

Can you explain how I got that wrong?
