Identity theft help - Lloyds, TSB and credit

I am a victim of identity fraud. On Saturday I received a debit card from Lloyds for a current account which I did not apply for. I have recently moved house, but luckily had mail redirection on. I think it's the estate agents or someone associated with the previous tenancy who thinks they can access my post. So happy that I bought mail redirection otherwise I'd never have known!

I called Lloyds who have put the account on block and handed over details to their fraud team who will be in touch.

I've checked Experian and can see two searches completed at the same time, one for TSB and one for Capital One. About to call them now. Oh and I also asked to be registered with CIFAS and the Lloyds team took some details from me as extra so CIFAS has my verified details.

Does anyone know what else I need to do? Should I contact my own banks and ask them to keep a watchful eye, or is it not worth it? Will the CIFAS record be enough?

Also if they've done this to me there is a chance they've done it to my boyfriend too. Is it possible to electively register with CIFAS?

I'm on Experian, Clearscore and Noddle and will check searches too. Can't believe this happened :(

CIFAS record is likely to be more than enough. It was meant to protect customers, but many banks prefer not to bother with extra checks and simply reject applications automatically.

The best you can do is to keep a close eye on your credit files. I assume you have already changed your address registered on the electoral roll.

Yes I changed electoral roll 2 weeks ago but it doesn't seem to have updated because my credit reports still show old address. I think everything is just "in progress".

I obviously don't plan to apply for any accounts at the moment, but can I remove myself from CIFAS when the time comes? Or will it stick hard?

I think you can - if you register yourself: https://www.cifas.org.uk/pr_faqs

However it's different if a bank places "victim of impersonation" mark in your file.
