  • Good morning, it is beautiful here, bitterly cold but clear. I went out to see the sunrise and it was amazingly gorgeous and I got equally amazingly cold, that'll learn me.

I am having the day off as last week's day off did not happen and this is my very short week so wahey.

Him indoors has just got up, I am sitting here in layers of clothes and my feet poked into a pile of cushions as I put out clothes before going to bed, forgot socks and didn't want to wake him up rooting about for warm socks. Might have to put heating on.

I will tidy, hoover and iron, keeping moving to stay warm.

    Have gone dog - broody.

    Hi everyone,

We had a lovely weekend in Yorkshire - lots of sunshine. On Saturday we went to the Lancashire coast (a bit further north than Morcambe TA). We took the train from Carnforth to Arnside and walked back along the coast (almost 10 miles). My hips didn't thank me for it, I had to take painkillers to get to sleep because I couldn't lie on either side comfortably.

I can't be bothered to go out today, unless I go for a small walk, we've got enough food in so I shall postpone my trip to Lidl until after I've been to the dentist tomorrow.

    Have a good day.
  • Good Morning chums ,very bright sunshine here this morning but rain is forecast later and its a bit on the nippy side but I shall enjoy it while its here.I have to nip to the bank to stash my left over cash from my food purse today It gets tucked away towards our family holiday in August :):):) No shopping to buy at all this week I hope I shall draw my new months cash out for March expenses and food purse at the same time.I was very please at how little I actually spent this month ,freezer diving and using up stuff I've already got in store helps no end.My late OH used to say I was like a squirrel at times storing things up for the winter :) probably right as I do still do this and its very handy when the weather is bad and you can't or don't want to go out.Plus it makes for some ...interesting meals :):):)
I fancy making a trifle today and I have all the ingredients in the cupboards so I'll probably do that when I come home from the shops.

Hope you all have a good day what ever you are doing
    Cheers JackieO xxx

Gers, the avocado with a poached egg is absolutely delicious (I don't want to spoil your meal plan:)), and I have adapted some of the recipes in the book to our likes. I honestly don't think we could achieve 800 cals, more like 1000, but have definitely done away with carbs, and the midriff bulge is lessening by the day. Good luck with it, I think you will enjoy it

Yes, that looks lovely. After all my planning and thinking and writing out shopping lists and looking at different websites I got fed up and decided to do the week plan in the book! :rotfl: I don't eat fish so there's a couple of changes to be made but that's it... CBA'd re-inventing the bloomin' wheel.

OH's car insurance is coming in at just under £2k for the first year! He just needs to do this now before he packs in work. I never took a company car when offered it as the spectre of personal insurance always worried me.

Still frosty here so need to wrap up warm for the journey north - and then swelter to death in the shops!

Eldest son didnt come to visit me with the Grandchildren on Saturday night. She had 'changed her plans' apparently.... More like she found out they were coming up to see me. A word of advice, never criticise your childs partner after they have split up. Apparently "even my Mother thinks your a right c0w" flung in her face in the middle of a drunken row didnt go down well. Not as though i saw the children much anyway to have built up a bond with them but even so... its sad nonetheless. Totally my own fault but you live and learn and my opinion of her hasnt changed.

Daughter in South Africa is having problems with renewing her visa to stay over there and her oldest adopted Son has more health issues. Recently found out to have ADHD and now they suspect he has FAS. (Foetal alcohol syndrome). Apparently his biological Mothers family were heavy drinkers. Strange, poor enough to live in a tin shed with not a penny to their name when their hut burned down but obviously rich enough to get hammered on a regular basis. Personally i cant see it myself but he is having tests. Personally i think my daughter has gone about things the wrong way... but ive been telling her all this for months. Why do they never listen?

Grandson slept soundly Saturday night but lying in his bed right next to me i woke up every time he moved (and even a dog crept up on his bed to keep his feet warm). He woke me up about 5.30 singine 'Bahh bahh black sheep' over and over again.

Sunday we were that knackered that we spent 5 hours watching Railroad Alaska live. 5 hours of snow, trees and a train chugging through the wilderness of Alaska... All because neither of us could be bothered to change the channel. Needless to say, it must have bored us enough to send both of us to sleep. We spent a good afternoon asleep. Telly playing to itself.

So today will be spent cleaning up after the weekend. I'm in no rush though.

  • Hello again I have cleaned the oven, how I hate that job but at least it is done.

Judi, you probably know this but fas doesn't always manifest itself in the obvious ways, for some children it can be an accumulation of smaller things and some will have foetal alcohol effects rather than the full-blown syndrome. It is so desperately sad to think that children can be affected in this way. Horrible for your daughter to have to contemplate and I am so sorry that she is going through this anxiety.

Redruby one of my guests, Max, had no idea what "play" was. He was a greyhound bred for racing, but he hadn't made the grade, so had become a family pet (lucky Max). Just keep gently encouraging Evie, and hopefully she'll get there. Make sure she has something of her own for when she wants to chew, though ;) - K0ng toys are really good.

Jack's gone home now, so I'm on my own til 10th March, when Rosie and Lucy (new-to-me guests) will be arriving.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Morning, (((((((((( hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Back from OH's appointment with the Consultant, he has to have a cat scan, but he is pretty sure his problems are as a result of diverticulitis disease. We got a ride from reception to the clinic and then back to our car, Leicester General is as bad as LRI for distances to walk.

Called at Aldi in Syston for spuds, I realised yesterday I should have bought some on Friday.

It's a fine day but really cold, was glad of my 3 in 1 jacket, hat and gloves.
  • Hi chums ,DGS Jack just arrived home from school with a lovely small pillow embroidered with 'To the Nicest Nan' on it as a present for me ,bless him.

I did a bit of running around for him last week making sure he got his cinema tickets for himself and all of his pals. Then on Saturday evening I ran him and his chums down to the cinema and picked them up later that night after their movie and pizza, and made sure they all got home safely delivered to their front door.

It was Jacks 16th birthday night out with his friends and they all towered over me at 6ft plus :).One lad was worried as his parents said he had to be in by 10.00 and we got him to his house on the dot :) He would have been grounded otherwise. They were all smashing boys who will join Jack when he goes into 6th form this September, and they were all very polite and thank me for the lifts as they got out. So nice to see that good manners are alive and kicking still.

I am a very lucky old Granny to have such a well mannered grandson and I'm more than happy to make sure all the boys are safely home afterwards. Quite made my day getting my little cushion though:) and I have it on my lap at the moment with my lap-top sitting on top of it :):):)

I've looked into FAS a little bit for a child I know. It's an interesting subject. Unfortunately it is not so well known about over here and the child I know, if they have got it, they've got the milder effects.
