Car accident claim

quick question, daughter just ran into the back of another car, causing damage to both vehicles, other driver wants to claim on daughters insurance (fair play). My question, if daughter claims for damage caused to her own car would it be counted as one claim against her or would she be better off getting her own car fixed at her own expense? Will be informing the insurance company in the morning about the accident.

It'll be classed as a single claim and your daughter will have to pay excess and lose NCB.

Might be worth getting a quote for her own damage, it may be cheaper paying out of her own pocket rather than via her insurance.

Cheers folks. As soon as I wrote that post it all came back to me. Will get a quote for her car ASAP though not holding out much hope that it will be cheap. Mini Cooper, bonnet dented, number cracked, grill cracked.

Might as well go with the insurance as the long term cost will be almost identical. They'll ramp up here insurance the same sort of amount regardless of whether they repair the car or not.

  • Her insurance is gonna go up now regardless if the other car will be repaired from it, I'd get hers repaired through her insurance as well and save some cash in the long run.
