Block Pave/ Tarmac

Hi all

I am currently renovating my house. One of the final jobs is to relay a new front drive. At present it has concrete slab and is not level. I have received a quote from a company offering to block pave the drive which is 8m wide by 4m long. The company has offered to level the ground, place acro-drains, and block pave the drive. They would provide the bricks which are a sort of a charcoal the of brick. They have quoted £1800 to do the job. Is this reasonable or over/under priced.

At the same time I have received a quote for tarmacing the drive which is £2200 is this reasonable?

The property is in Yorkshire.

You have given no indication of specification, materials, workmanship, quality, access, skips, breaking out and so on. In the absence of all this my preference would be for paviors because you are less likely to suffer cowboy builder issues. Even if you do suffer, paviors can be re-bedded, and re-sanded.

Good quality driveway concrete paviors (clay are available but less common) would represent about £500 of your quote. Only you can decide how the balance of £1300 is broken down.
