plaster board help please.

Ripped fire place out yesterday, and where it was glued to plaster board wall, I has taken off the top layer of the board and you can see the darker stuff.

Need to prep for emulsion...

Have sanded, but the darker stuff wont go smooth.

Whats best way to do this ?

Also theres a couple of holes where fireplace came out, bit too big for my trusty polyfilla tube, whats the best stuff for filling these as well ?

Thanks

You're not going to be able to sand plasterboard where the paper lining has come away.

You might be able to do a very light skim over with some easifill and rub that down but it might be best to line that section of wall with lining paper.

For the deep holes, there are decent fillers that will fill them up easily. I've used Ronseal deep hole filler in the past with success though I would use it to fill just below the surface and then finish off with a filler that sands much more nicely like easifill or touprets. To be honest if you do it this way you could fill the bulk of the holes up with anything - mortar, bonding etc.

    +1 for easifill
Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and for once I'm inclined to believe Withnail is right. We are indeed drifting into the arena of the unwell.
