Thank goodness I'm not the only one! Leftover chicken (the 8th portion from this week's Sainsbury's hot roast chicken...) with white sauce scrapings, which I will have with a microwaved jacket potato for my packed lunch tomorrow...
Today's was reheated fish and chips - I told my son he couldn't eat a whole portion by himself, yesterday!
  • I was in the Med on holiday a few weeks ago. The amount of food people leave when eating out. Terrible!
  • In our house we rarely have leftovers. Any bits of fat, skin off chicken etc etc goes straight into the DDU.
    (Dog Disposal Units)

We have been to other peoples house's and have been shocked how they just throw away cooked food (not only from plates but off the main serving dishes too). The DH commented on it to them and they looked at him in shock for suggesting saving the food even if it was only for the dogs.
  • I was amazed last Christmas to hear a colleague say that she would buy the biggest turkey she could find - have it on the table in all its glory for christmas dinner and then chuck the rest of it out.....
Unbelievable - I offered to pop round on christmas day evening to collect the bird!

I work as a waitress in my local pub, and the portions are quite large. I find it heartbreaking throwing all of the food into the bin at the end of people's meals, especially as there are people who would love to have anything at all to eat. The potboy and I were having this discussion the other day actually.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Whenever and where ever we go out for a curry, I never eat it all, and now rather than stuff myself to eat as much as I can, I eat half or slightly more and take the rest home for my lunch the following day. This is never a problem as it proves they've cooked me a good meal, I just can't eat it all! Occasionally I've even been given a fresh naan bread to go with it!

Anyone else do chicken breasts with a roast instead of a bird because of this?

I used to do this when I lived on my own. Would buy 2 chicken breasts and make up 1/2 a small packet of stuffing (I know, not HM but there was only me). I would cut a pocket in each breast, fill it with stuffing then wrap them tightly in foil and cook in the oven for about 30 minutes at 190.

One I would have with veg ang gravy and the other I would slice and have with salad or in a sandwich the next day

Good idea, but how to keep off the other gannets at the table!
