Warranty on a replacement

Apologies if this has been asked and answered before - I couldn't find it.

We have a Fridge Freezer which is close to the end of its 5 year warranty. It has been declared broken beyond economic repair by the service engineer so we expect a replacement.

My question is will the replacement come with any sort of warranty beyond the remaining period of the original warranty.

I would expect the replacement to be able to function for a reasonable period of time - in years rather than months - but as we are not purchasing it at this time I am unsure where we would stand in terms of our rights.

Not normally no. The replacement just takes the place of the old appliance as if it was never broken.

You could always ask though the manufacturer may offer the standard warranty.

Rights? little to none - the FF is almost 6 years old so any sort of SOGA claim is unlikely to succeed and once it hits 6 years you're outside of the claim period anyway.

You're bound by whatever the terms of the warranty state - though I would assume that it would provide a little extra time. For example Apple offer a 3 month warranty on replacement iPhones. I would not expect this to be "years", rather a few months.
