First Direct porting / permission to let?

Hi
Does anybody have experience with requesting permission to "port" their mortgage (i.e. moving house) or getting permission to let? What was your experience like and what terms did they offer?
I don't have a First Direct mortgage, but I am considering re-mortgaging with them. I'm not expecting to move or let, but the ability to do so should it become an issue is important to me.
If you have other information about them you'd like to add, feel free to do that too!
I really appreciate all information you can offer
Thanks
