Very tiny airport! It's just nice to hang out near the port. The old town is much nicer than the new town. There is a good beach near the new town though. Of course, get the good French bread sandwiches.

Take a car to Plage Minimes, park near the marina and take the water bus into old port/town center. This is much easier and more fun than trying to park in town. There is a good beach there.
Try moules frites on the promenade. If you really like seafood go to Chez Andre near the old port entrance. Not cheap but worth it.
The new Aquarium is worth a visit.
Have you ever been to Puy du Fou? If not look it up, not sure about their winter schedule but it is one of the best things to do in the Vendee.
Weather grear at the moment, hot sun with a few clouds.
