We are in Rome for the rugby:D

Has anyone been before who can suggest a pub where we can watch the England match after ours? Please

There must be an Irish bar somewhere!

  • Yes thanks. I have been googling! The Abbey looks promising :)
  • Druids Rock, beside the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore - close to Termini station. Good atmosphere and several TV's. They even have one TV in the window so you can watch the game outside if the weather is OK.
  • OP - you lucky, lucky, lucky so and so.
Please lift a glass or two for me.
I'll be thinking of you when I watch the game later on.
  • Thanks it was brilliant, the atmosphere was great. The win made it all the better!

The Scots could learn a thing or two from the Italians when it comes to pre match entertainment especially for families.

If you ever get the chance, grab it :) We are already thinking about 2018!

I looked at it for this year for taking Murphy Jnr, but it wasn't doable for reasonable money from the North of England, allowing for school time - but its on the list of 'to do's'

We booked our flights through Opodo , end of July, Edinburgh, Heathrow, Rome on Thursday. Came back last night, Rome, Brussels, Edinburgh. £760 four adults :)

We had an apartment booked through Airbnb, near to the Vatican for under £500.
(The apartment we had slept 10, so there would be cheaper alternatives I'm sure)

    We didn't find Rome expensive.

Junior would only have to miss 3 school days but there is a wealth of education in the tourist attractions :)

Its an easy sell to me/Mrs Cat, but his school may be harder to presuade.
The France game in Paris is doable in a weekend/without getting into school time, but I couldn't fit Rome into a weekend (& I did try !!)
