Virgin Media Default Success Story!

I am looking to apply for a mortgage so I obtained my statutory report from Experian which showed a default of £52 from Virgin Media from my student house that happened 8 months after I moved out (I left early on bad terms with the other housemates), and I had no idea that my name was still connected to that account.
I spoke to Virgin Media on the phone and told them that even though I had no knowledge of the default and I had not even been living in the property when it defaulted I would be willing to pay this £52 to have this cleared and removed from my file.
Having read online, I was worried that they would mark it as "settled" and leave it on my file and that my chances are very slim in getting this removed. I just wanted to post my success story if anyone has a similar problem:
I emailed the credit file amendments team on 27th Jan and although they were slow in responding and I had to chase them up for an answer, this is the answer I received today:
"Thanks for getting in touch with the Virgin Media team about the entry we added to your credit file.
We’ve taken a look at your credit file and as a gesture of goodwill we have contacted Experian/Equifax to remove the default and the late payment recorded by Virgin Media.
Please be advised, it may take up to 14 days for the amendment to appear on your credit file.
I hope this resolves the issue for you"
Absolutely delighted with this response and hopefully shows that sometimes there is light at the end of the tunnel. I feel like success stories aren't documented enough online :A
