Fraud is wonderful until you get caught then it suddenly becomes a very very stupid idea.

Based on the title of this thread - Theft from South West Trains - I'm confused too.If its any consolation, your post has confused me as well so I couldn't imagine dealing with you when you're unhappy about a day ticket you had to pay for when you "forgot your monthly pass"
What has been stolen from South West Trains?0 -

I think the suggestion was that you had borrowed your mates season ticket to get a refund on your day ticket.I just happen to steal someone's season ticket that was paid with my own credit card.
Of course your photocard matches you, but you had overlooked the photocard number being different on the season ticket.
Even if you did not do that, surely you can see that it is a reasonable conclusion that the nice man in the ticket office might draw.0 -
Withholding my ticket that I PAID for and pretending I lost it, denying to have withheld it, is not different to theft. That's money he stole from me.
Cant be theft as the ticket belongs to the train company.

Season tickets are only valid with the corresponding numbered photocard.
If the season ticket you have does not have a photocard number corresponding with the number of the photocard with your photo on that you present, it is not a valid ticket, and prima facie not your ticket. The clerk was correct to retain the ticket for enquiry.
If you lost the original photocard, and the train company have proof of your identity, then the correct course of action is for the clerk to cancel your existing season ticket and reissue it to your new photocard. This is at their discretion and reissue of a lost season ticket is usually only done once.
The details of the payment card used are irrelevant.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
