I had a car loan from RCI Financial services back in 2001. I am sure there was ppi included.
I do not have a copy of the agreement but I was able to find the Agreement number from an old diary.
I have written to them and they responded by saying that due to data protection they only hold records for 6 years, and that I need to send them copies of the agreement and bank statements showing that premiums were paid. I obviously do not have these, and someone told me that the burden of proof was on them to prove that I didn't have it ! Is this correct.
Also they have suggested I speak directly with the dealer if I need further assistance but surely they are the lender and the agreement is with them.
Are they correct and I will need to forget this one ore are they trying to avoid there responsibilities hoping I forget about it.
Any suggestions on how I should approach this would be very much appreciated.
Thanks

No, if you make an allegation of wrong doing, it's up to you to prove it.someone told me that the burden of proof was on them to prove that I didn't have it ! Is this correct.
Any liability would be with whoever sold you the policy, that'd be the dealer, but they weren't regulated until 2005.Also they have suggested I speak directly with the dealer if I need further assistance but surely they are the lender and the agreement is with them.
No paperwork, unregulated seller and it's 15 years ago. I'd say so.Are they correct and I will need to forget this one0 -

Could you tell the "someone" who told you this, that they still owe me the £1,500 cash I lent them and its up to them to prove they don't.
