Can I expect a parking charge notice?

Hi there,
Yesterday I parked in a privately owned car park, run by STARPARK.CO.UK.
I park there fairly often and always pay by calling the number to register my car, etc etc.

Yesterday, due to me being temporarily distracted, I did not register my car as being parked until about 15 minutes after I had parked.
The board at the car park says I need to register parking within 10 minutes.

So, after about 15 minutes I suddenly remembered and quickly made the appropriate payment for 1 hours parking.
I parked for approximately 30 minutes in total.

So my question is, can I expect a fine?
If I do, it would seem rather unfair as I did pay for my parking, although clearly I did not register in time (approx. 5 minutes too late!).

If I do get a fine, can I appeal?

Thank you!

Starpark are a trading name of Civil Enforcement Ltd, so it would be worth reading-up on them here to see the calibre of pond-life you are dealing with. :D

Always, even a Council PCN should be appealed!

But with private parking firms, the KEEPER should be the appellant. See the NEWBIES thread.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

How do they detect parkers? Bod on legs or ANPR? If bod on legs, you should have had a PCN. If ANPR, then make sure you get confirmation of in/out time on any correspondence from them.

I would have a 2 to 1 on you having got away with it.

You can't get a fine for parking on private land. You might get a speculative invoice through the post though.
Read the Sticky thread for NEWBIES should this happen as this is your one stop shop for all private parking queries.

  • Well, it's been just over 2 weeks since this incident and I am pleased to say no ticket has been received.
So, it looks like I needn't have worried. Many thanks for the replies though and for all the information supplied on the forums/website.
