I used to have Avast on my window 7 laptop. Then I upgraded it probably to the latest version, that's when my internet browsing with chrome slowed down and my wireless internet connection dropped regularly. I had a couple of blue screens too.
I removed Avast from my laptop and it was between going back to AVG or try Avira. As Avira seemed to have good feedbacks, I decided to try it.
Now it is installed, it is working well but have a problem with Avira firewall.
I always used Zone Alarm on my computers and want to continue with it, but Avira is hell bent trying to make me use the inferior windows firewall which I don't want, and I get regular reminders about my computer not being secure because their firewall is turned off.
How do I go about removing the unsecure status of Avira and reopen the umbrella?

Why do you feel the need for a software firewall at all? Don't you have a hardware firewall in your router? The current Windows firewall is perfectly adequate for blocking unwanted phone homes by applications.0
