We took over 4 car loads to storage on Friday. We did a car boot sale today (taking home £45) for 2 1/2 hours as it was cold and not busy enough to justify staying. Another car load to storage today too. Got loads of boxes to fill up so tomorrow will be packing and making a pile to go over to storage. The plan is to have 3/4 of our belongings in storage and just the main furniture and stuff immediately needed going to the new house on moving day and we are slowly but surely moving in the right direction.

I also plan to sell some crafty bits at my next craft club at the beginning of April. So hopefully less stuff to move :)

Not sure if today counts as a nsd as paid for the pitch and for breakfast but that came out of the car boot money we made so technically we just earnt less!

Shopping this week was slightly more than last week but still not too bad. Hoping to keep the credit card bill down this month too.

Between the car boot sale and the crafty sales I have sold £94 worth of stuff in 6 weeks! I have also decluttered quite a few bits and pieces to the local children's ward and the charity shop. Would have liked to keep on going with this but have had to be packing things up (sorting as I go) so things aren't to hand to sort / sell etc.

Still waiting on 'outstanding pieces of paperwork' from our vendor's solicitors. Buyer is ready to go and we have the contract and other bits of paper to sign to do with selling the house but at a stand still with the house we are buying. Our buyer is pushing for exchange and completion by 29th April but who knows. So we now working on moving in two weeks and packing the house up accordingly! The spare room is empty apart from the tv, loft ladder and packing boxes. The store room is packed up but need to take down all the shelving. Bedroom just has one wardrobe and bed- planning to put clothing into suitcases and bags so we can dismantle wardrobe. Next step is sorting out the kitchen.

We have been really lucky and my parents have allowed us to put things into their storage unit, it is now however nearly full and the prospect of moving it all back again is quite daunting. It is also saving us money as we're not paying storage fees and hopefully we will now be able to move ourselves so just need to hire a van!

We've also been keeping the spending down so generally bills are low. This is good as things are going to be expensive in our new house

My target this week is to not spend so much at work. I can't seem to manage cold turkey and end up buying every day so I think I'll go for three days spend next week, three as I'm meeting a friend after work and then two days the following week. I'll start with that and see how I go!

We have been living in our new house for a week today! It happened all of a sudden with both buyer and vendor saying they wanted to be done by the end of the month so it was a sudden rush to exchange and complete in a week.

Bit of a nightmare on move day in that buyers hadn't signed something that should have been done the day before but fortunately it got pushed through on the morning of completion but not until 11am. So they passed their money up, our conveyancer phoned and said got their money, passing it on now so you should hear about picking up keys shortly. Two hours later new owners turned up with keys, so phoned estate agent who said yep, you've sold your house so need to vacate. Phoned conveyancer who said Barclays Bank system has gone down and that's who our vendors solicitors banked with so they can't verify they've received the money from us and can't pass it on! So we trundled off to sit in hired van in front of new house. Just as we were considering having to phone van company to find out about keeping van over weekend and rearranging time off etc (as it was 3pm on a Friday) we got the call! Then a mad rush to empty van as it had to be back by 5pm!

We then found vendor had turned off absolutely everything so had to find stopcock and try and work out which switches worked what. We had hot water but no heating for a couple of days :rotfl:

Only just now starting to feel like we are settling in but have a long road ahead with doing things up and getting things how we want them. Also means we are back to having a mortgage, which is really scary, so need to get focused as everything has slipped by the way side at the mo!

Mind you, did have a no spend day on Friday as my line manager bought me a scone and hot chocolate for our monthly meeting so that's a start. Have also got out stuff from the freezer to use up for my lunch this week and need to get back to meal planning.

Got the aerial man coming to put up digital aerial on Monday so hopefully we will then have a working tv :j Waiting for a plumber quote and lots of people to call back to arrange visits for quotes and advice. So, full speed ahead and hopefully good bye to our mortgage! It'll be a long road but so worth it .......

    Thank you :)

I managed a no spend day but DH spent nearly £300 on getting a new aerial, booster, cable etc to get the tv to work :rotfl: so I'm not sure that counts as it comes out of our joint account. However we do now have a working tv so that's a bit of a novelty.

Hopefully got the builder booked in to repair the flat garage and hall roof in the next month so things are going in the right direction :T

Productive weekend- pond has been dug out (dog kept drinking from it :)), mini fencing border put up down side of driveway although we are one length short and smallest room is having cracks in wall dug out. We've taken up carpet and underlay in three bedrooms and taken it to the dump. We've also bought gardening tools and planted 2 lots of potatoes and done some weeding :j

Did a big top up shop too- used lots of vouchers over the weekend. Plus I've got a voucher for an online order to use by the end of the month. Had our letter for the first mortgage payment and as we went over an extra pay day I've got a full months overpayment ready to go as soon as my log in details arrive :T

Got a nice big top up shop from Sainsburys yesterday using a discount voucher so got cupboards packed full, although need fruit and veg still. That's one of tomorrow's jobs.

Have been contacting various companies about changing address and feel like we are finally getting there :)

Productive day- two lots of washing, washing up (miss my dishwasher!), trip to garden centre, mowed the front and back lawn and dug up half the overgrown wild bit of the garden. Tired now though :)

Internet banking login has arrived but no info i.e sort code or account number for overpaying so need to contact them again.
