School Press Release

I have just received a text from my daughter's school saying that my child has been chosen to be in a press release. If I do not want her to be photographed, then to let the school know by tomorrow.

I will ask tomorrow anyway as I will be going to the school, but just wondered what do school do press releases for? Where is it likely to be?

Just in the local rag probably.

It's probably nothing to worry about. :)

Schools are businesses these days, in competition with the other local schools. They need to get good publicity out to prospective parents.

My school was in the paper for things like advertising open days, if they had done a charity fundraiser, a school play, if they were getting new equipment and if they had won an event

As someone else said it's normally the local paper

Press release can be picked up by anyone really, the school wont have their own comms officer, it will be a central role at the council.

It would probably be sent to all local media. Picked up generally by local papers, blogs and radio.

Most common is to find the articles online.
